John Lamancusa is an accomplished engineer, acoustician, fiddler, woodworker and luthier. In his professional life, he taught Mechanical Engineering and Acoustics at Penn State for 30 years. He studied violin restoration and repair under Chris Germain and Vahakn Nigogosian and has been working on violins and bows since 1995. After retiring from the university in 2014, he was finally able to realize his passion for bow-making, under the tutelage of Rodney Mohr

He possesses a unique combination of scientific knowledge and traditional craftsmanship. John has played violin in the Nittany Valley Symphony and fiddle in numerous string bands.  He is the author of one of the most extensive internet collections of Old Time Fiddle Tunes.
